The cocoa

coming from the seeds of cacao fruits was discovered by the tribes of Mayan and Aztecs. They drank cocoa drinks during rites and religious holidays. The cocoa beans were then exceptionally valuable and served even as means of payment. To Europe, cocoa beans were brought by Christopher Columbus and they gained quickly their popularity in the courts in Spain and then in whole Europe.
